Il Fornaio, an authentic Italian dining establishment with 22-full-service restaurants, will debut a three-session wine education series beginning April 21, 2012 at its Irvine location.
The series is designed for both novices as well as those who simply want to learn more about wine in relation to authentic Italian cuisine.
Advanced sommelier Margaux Pierog of Treasury Wine Estates will team up with Chef Jeff Burt to present Orange County with an exciting series of fine food and wine tasting education.
The courses begin with “The Tasting Process” where students learn to see, sniff, sip and summarize wine.
Participants will be educated in understanding aromas, clarity and color by the end of the session.
On May 12, the Italian restaurant will be presenting “Red vs. Whites,” where students will discover the range of grape colors, how tannins affect the body of wine, the influence of oak and the delight of bubbly.
The final course in the sequence will be held on June 23 and feature “Battle of the Wines: Sonoma vs. Napa.” This course will be a vertical tasting to compare and contrast various vintages and the influence of each terroir.
Classes are valuable taken either individually or in a sequence, and participants in all three courses will receive a certification of completion to display with pride.
All classes begin at 3pm and are $29.99 per session, which includes all wine and appetizers. Orange County wine lovers do not want to miss this unique opportunity!
